Lakers’ LeBron James: 'It would be great' to visit White House to celebrate NBA championship

Only two days in the Oval Office, and it already appears President Joe Biden will experience something Donald Trump never did.
Biden will have a receptive crowd of NBA teams that want to celebrate their league championship at the White House.
“It would be great,” Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James. “But I have no idea what we can even do right now besides hotel, arena and home.”
That is because the NBA has outlined strict healthy and safety protocols aimed at mitigating risk with the coronavirus.
Before the pandemic, U.S presidents customarily hosted the NBA championship teams the following season shortly before they played the Washington Wizards in the District. James and the Cleveland Cavaliers were the last participants to follow that routine with former President Barack Obama on Nov. 10, 2016. But the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors declined to celebrate their NBA title when Trump was president because of his divisive rhetoric.
This time, the issues involve logistics and safety concerns. The NBA currently forbids teams from meeting in any large gatherings. The Lakers do not play against the Washington Wizards until the second half of the season, which the NBA won’t release that part of the schedule until early March.
